Our mission is to feature writers of diverse backgrounds, experiences and languages on our Instagram page. If you'd like to be featured, use #thebruneiwriters on instagram so we can find your pieces. Or, you can send us an e-mail.
We offer periodical e-mail submission periods. Our submissions periods are the first week of every month, after which any submissions sent will not be entertained.
We are open to submissions of poetry, excerpts of prose, excerpts of screenplays & excerpts of stage plays. Unfortunately, we do not currently accept short stories, full-length screenplays or full-length stage plays. Submissions may be in English or Malay.
Please read the following submission guidelines.
All submissions should be emailed to [email protected]. Please format the subject line of your email as Submission-[Name]-[Genre], as in "Submission-Atiqah-Prose."
All submissions must be sent as an attachment (.docx) and not pasted into the body of the email.
Please include trigger/content warnings in the body of your email if your work contains triggering content.
Please also include a short bio and a link to your website, blog or social media in the body of the email.
We accept simultaneous submissions and previously published work -- as long as you give us permission to feature it!
Selected submissions will be featured on @thebruneiwriters.
We do not accept work that is queerphobic, sexist & racist. We aim to respond to submissions within the span of 2 weeks.
